Construction costs on the Miami International Airport could spike another $100 million, surpassing the existing $6.2 billion budget, the Miami Herald reported Friday. Delays, insurance costs, and scheduling problems on the airport's North Terminal along with claims relating to the South Terminal were cited for the cost overrun.
Airport officials say the construction is the largest reconstruction effort of any existing airport in the world. More than a thousand workers are building a mile-long terminal, which is estimated to cost $40 million per month.
